ETMGDC January Meeting Minutes


The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant, Morristown, Jan. 4, 2018

President Jim Stepp convened the meeting about 6:50 pm with 8 members present.

The Treasurer’s Report: reported a balance of $814.97 on deposit.

Old Business:

December minutes - There were no December minutes because there was no meeting. Instead, the ETMGDC’s Christmas Dinner was held at the Shoney's Restaurant Dandridge, well attended and enjoyed.

The 2018 Morristown British & European Car Show: The City of Morristown and/or the Downtown Merchant’s Association have asked us to hold our next show on Main Street on the First Saturday of June 2018. They are willing to block off the street and provide live music for the show. We will need volunteers for the show regardless of where the show chairman and committee choose to have it. Please mark your calendars, and keep a lookout for silent auction donations. We will have a flyer ASAP and there is still much planning to do. Anybody wishing to or willing to serve on the Car Show Committee should of contact Jim Stepp.

New Business:

The pros and cons of maintaining our own events calendar as compared to our current method of listing short notice impromptu drives and upcoming events in e-mail meeting reminders and minutes were discussed. As far as I can discern, no conclusion was reached.

Eddie Ballard proposed Bylaw changes pertaining to the treasurer’s duties. Proposed Bylaws with the desired changes will be presented to members at the next meeting for a vote.

Jim Watson made a motion to donate $200 to the Kingswood School. It was seconded by Eddie and passed by the members present.

ETMGDC February Meeting Minutes

 


The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant, Morristown, Feb. 1, 2018

President Jim Stepp convened the meeting about 7:20 pm with 6 members present.

The Treasurer’s Report: reported a balance of $703.63 on deposit.

Old Business: It’s membership renewal time. Dues ($20) are due.

The 2018 Morristown British & European Car Show: 2 June 2018

Will be on Main Street in Downtown Morristown with live music.
Registration will be from 9am – 11am. Judging till 1pm.
We will need volunteers. Keep a lookout for silent auction donations.
We voted to increase the fee by $5, so it is $15 pre-registered and $20 at gate.
There will be rooms at the Holiday Inn Express with a special rate for those from out of town.

The Greenville Car Museum Winter Party – 3 Feb 2018. Jim will attend to promote our show.

April Fools British Car Bash – 31 March 2018 in Chattanooga.

Springtime in the Smokies - Townsend, TN – 11-13 May 2018 – not to be missed!

A Bylaw change pertaining to the treasurer’s duties was passed by a vote. The revised text of Article 10 paragraph 4 would be the exact same but with the addition of: “The Treasurer may spend club funds as authorized by the President, a vote of the membership or as deemed necessary and proper by treasurer himself.” The dated revision will be posted on the Members Only section of the website; www.etmgdc.org.

ETMGDC March Meeting Minutes



The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant, Morristown, March. 1, 2018

President Jim Stepp convened the meeting about 7:30 pm with 8 members present.

The Treasurer’s Report: reported a balance of $723. on deposit.
Plus $30.00 show reg.
Plus $200.00 show sponsorship

Old Business:

Dues : It’s membership renewal time. Dues ($20) are due.

ETMGDC April Meeting Minutes



The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant, on the April 5, 2018.

It was convened at 7:30PM by the president Jim Stepp with 14 members present.

The Treasurer’s report was postponed pending new treasure VP Alan Birdsall updating dues and car show registration fees and assuming the rest of Jolean Ballard’s term.

Old Business:

The Morristown European Car Show will be Sat. June 2rd starting 9am, ending 2 pm on Main Street in Downtown Morristown from Henry St. to Cumberland St. The streets will reopen at 3 pm.

We need volunteers. Jim Watson volunteered to prep layout signs.
Melinda Watson “volunteered” to make up ballots
Jane Birdsall and Larry Peck will man the registration booth
Bob Frazier and others volunteered for other duties
Several Members from BBC will also help out.
In addition, Daily Bread will provide 8 volunteers.
Other members are urged to contact Jim and offer to help.

We still need:
Donations for the silent action (Please bring them to the May meeting)
Local business sponsors. Please get names and funds to Alan ASAP.

Car Show Publicity is being done by show chairman Jim Stepp. Jim will also do trophies and Banners.

The insurance certificate for the show arrived from NAMGBR this week.

In addition to the May general membership meeting there was a consensus that a show meeting would be held sometime in May shortly before the show. Date to be set at the May 3rd general membership meeting.


A motion to split donations from the car show proceeds was presented by Karyn Bourne. It was amended to apply to next year’s show after Jim Watson and Jim Stepp pointed out that funds for this year were already allocated and announced on our flyers. The motion was seconded by Larry Peck and passed with no nay votes. The Kingswood School in Bean Station, to which we donated $200 in January, was mentioned as a possible recipient.

Club Officers: VP Alan Birdsall kindly volunteered to fill out the rest of Jolean Ballard’s term. Because the bank is in Morristown, the job would be more convenient for a member who is a Morristown resident.

ETMGDC May Meeting Minutes:



The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant in Morristown, on the May 3rd 2018.

It was convened at 7:30 PM by the president Jim Stepp with 11 members and 2 guests attending.

Treasurer Alan Birdsall reported $1034.67 on deposit. 70% of the members have paid this year’s dues and 8 have not. If you are one of the 8 please renew.

Old Business:

The Morristown European Car Show will be Sat. June 2rd starting 9 AM, ending 2 PM on Main Street in Downtown Morristown from Henry St. to Cumberland Street. Jim McGee and Barbara Garrow of the Downtown Morristown Association, cosponsoring the show, attended the meeting to answer questions from members and coordinate.

The show committee will meet May 26th at 10 AM at Java Garden Café on Main Street. We can stuff envelopes and make entry placards for the show. Please bring any last minute donations for the silent auction. All members are encouraged to attend.

Members turned in sponsors’ money and names so they can be listed on a show banner. We could use about ten more sponsors. If you get a sponsor please get some promotional material from them to put into the envelopes even if it’s just business cards.


The 30th Springtime in the Smokies British Car Show in Townsend TN will be May 12th. 2018. A must see! It’s a great Show!!!!!!

May 26 – June 3, 2018 is Drive Your British Car Week

June 9th – Bob Frazier is leading a drive to Cosby TN starting in Rogersville with members of the Kingsport club and going through Morristown to pick any ETMGDC members who wish to join in. Please contact Bob at bfranz62@bellsouth.net or (423) 272-9095 for more information.

June 11th through 15th 2018 is the British V8 meeting in Dayton, Ohio.

September 8-9, 2017 Brits of the Shoals Gathering Joe Wheeler State Park & Resort in Athens, Alabama.

September 22nd 2018 - Morristown EAA Fly-in at the Morristown Airport. There is a car show as part of this event that several ETMGDC members attended last year.

ETMGDC July Meeting Minutes



The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant in Morristown, on July 5, 2018.

Call to order at ~7pm

Attendees: Alan and Jane Birdsall, Eddie Ballard, Jolene Powell, Bob and Christiane Frazer, Jim Henery, Wayne Stroud
· Alan told the meeting that Jim Steppe was unable to attend because he was recovering from surgery. The surgery went well.
· Alan told the meeting that Larry Peck was unable to attend as he had broken down on his way to the meeting.
· Treasurers report:
o Car show: Gross $1,749 ; expenses $377.50 ; Net profit $1,371.50
o We have $2,080 in our Checking account, but that is mostly because we have not yet paid Daily Bread. Larry (from Daily Bread) has been out of town so we have not been able to meet up
o Eddie suggested we have Larry come to the meeting to collect his money so that we can all meet him. Alan said he would talk to Jim and Larry about that.
o Wayne paid his dues
· Cosby Drive: There was a good turn out for the drive to Cosby led by Bob Frazer.
· Upcoming events:
o July 7th : Mossy Creek Cruzers Car Show at Jefferson Middle School
o July 11th – 15th : V8 meeting in Dayton, Ohio
o July 14th – Hot Springs, SC drive
o August 24th – 25th : Return of the British Car Chow in Rugby
o September 8th : Car Show in Athens, Alabama
o September 22nd : Morristown Fly-In and Car Show at Morristown airport
o October 5th : Morristown Downtown Cruise-In. 5pm on Main Street
o October 27th : British Car Show in Chattanooga. Several of the Chattanooga club came to our car show so we think it would be good for members of our club to go to their show.
· Other Business:
o We discussed expanding our club to include other cars because no young people drive MGs. A suggestion was made to have a EurAsian Sports Car Drivers Club to attract more members. This would allow people with Miatas etc (like Wayne) to join.
o There was discussion on how to market a new club. Bob suggested making business cards up and handing them to people or leaving them in establishments. The club would pay for the business cards (they are not expensive.) But, we need to decide on a name first.

ETMGDC August Meeting Minutes:



The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant in Morristown, on the August 2nd 2018.

It was convened at 7:30 pm by President Jim Stepp with 12 members attending.

Treasurer reported was not issued (or I didn’t hear it).

Old Business:
Carl Floyd gave a report on the British V8 meeting held in Dayton Ohio. Next year’s meeting will be in Wytheville, Virginia
New Business:

NEXT SATURDAY, August 4th 2018, Bob Frazier will lead a drive leaving the Rogersville Burger King at 10:00am going up 66 to Sneedville, theu up to Blackwater, VA taking 70 back to Rogersville for lunch at the Amis Mill Restaurant.

ETMGDC September Meeting Minutes:

The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant in Morristown, on September 6th 2018.

It was convened at 7:25 pm by President Jim Stepp with 11 members and one guest attending. (Late due to extremely poor restaurant service)

The treasurer report was delivered by Eddie Ballard - $742.56 on deposit.

Old Business:

October 5 th – a FRIDAY EVENING - Downtown Cruise in. It starts about 5 on Main Street in Morristown.
An After Action Report on the August 24-26th “Return of the British to Rugby” was delivered by Jim Stepp.

New Business:

Welcome New Member Randy Debord of Morristown. Owner of a 1958 Austin Healey 100-6

Christmas Party: Suggested locations were solicited for next month’s meeting.

New club officers: Think about nominations and ask them.

Morristown EAA Fly-in will be September 22nd 2018. We will meet up at the parking lot of O’Charley’s Restaurant in Morristown at 9 am and drive to the airport as a group. This was lots of fun last year.

ETMGDC October Meeting Minutes


The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant in Morristown, on October 4th 2018.

It was convened at 7:30 pm by President Jim Stepp with 11 members and one guest present.

The Treasurer’s report was delivered by Alan Birdsall with $765.52 on deposit.

Old Business:
Jim Stepp presented an After Action Report on the Morristown EAA Fly–In/ Cruise-in - We had nine cars there in total.

October 5th – TOMORROW EVENING – The Downtown Cruise in. It starts about 5 on Main Street in Morristown. We will park across from Jersey Girl Restaurant. Bring your folding chairs.

A new slate of club officers was nominated of for next two years. They are; Eddie Ballard as President. Bob Frazier as Vice President, Alan Birdsall as Treasurer, and Larry Peck as Secretary.

Our Christmas Dinner location was chosen as Lisa’s Country Kitchen on SR 92 in Jefferson City for the regular meeting time on the first Thursday of December. Alan Birdsall agreed to contact Lisa and iron out details. Any changes in time or date that he deems necessary would be presented at the next meeting. There seems to be conscience that the club will foot the bill, but no such motion was made or voted on, so I guess that is for next month’s meeting too.

We will have to notify O’Charley’s that we won’t be there in December and set up meetings for next year too.

New Business:

The Club Name – Does the club name deter potential members? If so, what would be a better name? A name change would involve a By-laws change at least. This is presented as food for thought and discussion. Think about it!

The BritishV8 Fall Gathering is in Townsend, TN Oct. 5-8, 2018 – this weekend. Check with Jim Watson at spridget@charter.net to find out their plans.

ETMGDC November Meeting Minutes


The meeting was held at O’Charley’s Restaurant in Morristown, on November 1st 2018.

It was convened at 7:20 pm by President Jim Stepp.
Eleven members and one guest were present.

The Treasurer’s report was delivered by Alan Birdsall with $765.52 on deposit.

Old Business:

An after-action report on the Downtown Morristown Cruise in was presented by Jim Stepp.

Election of a new slate of Officers nominated for the next two years at the October meeting; They are; Eddie Ballard as President. Bob Frazier as Vice President, Alan Birdsall as Treasurer, and Larry Peck as Secretary.

ETMGDC Bylaws Article 9. Elections: At the regular meeting in October in the year that the terms of current officers will expire, the names of members nominated or volunteering to serve as club officers will be collected. At the regular meeting in November of that year, new officers will be elected by a vote of the members in attendance at that meeting. The newly elected officers will assume their club responsibilities at the beginning of the new year and will serve terms of two calendar years.

The slate of officers that was nominated in October was elected by acclamation. Nobody voted against them so;
That’s my story and I’m sticking with it!

An Update on Our Christmas Dinner was presented by Treasurer Alan Birdsall. The location was chosen as Aubrey’s Restaurant in Morristown, located at 4333 Evan Green Plaza, Morristown, TN 37813 behind Texas Roadhouse on 11E.

Fall Color Cruise- Bob Frazier will lead a Fall Colors Drive this Saturday November 3rd starting at 10:00 am at the Burger King in Rogersville, Tn.

An after-action report on the Annual Southern British Car Club Chattanooga (NOT AT THE) Choo Choo Show was presented by Jim Watson.

New Business:

Members voted to donate $100 to the Kingwood School and $100 to the Morristown Humane Society.
