2012 Club Meetings
MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG club was held on December 6, 2012 at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown Tennessee. There were 19 team members present.
2013 club calendars, created by George and Teresa Greene, were distributed to members. The calendars display in MGs owned by club members. Thank you to George and Teresa.
New officers, which were elected at the November meeting, assumed their duties. The club approved a provision that allowed the current secretary-treasurer to delegate treasurer duties to a member closer to the credit union where our account is handled in order to preserve our $0 fee at that credit union. JoAnn Hamilton was approved as treasurer by delegation. Mark Bourne will be the second signature on the account.
Departing president Jim Watson was presented with the Outstanding International Silver Circle award for his services the past two years. Included was a second disc in the event a second Silver Circle should be needed.
A drive for February to Greenville, to include a visit to the car museum, was discussed. All members were urged to join the drive.
Discussion and agreement to donate monies to charities was approved to the following:
* Honor air, which provides trips to Washington, DC for war war two veterans to the World War II Memorial, was awarded $100.
* Youth Emergency Center, a local youth assistance program was awarded $100. *Cancer Resource Center, a local program to assist cancer patients with their needs, was awarded $100.
The 50-50 drawling was won by JoAnn Hamilton.
The meeting adjourned with all business concluded.
MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver's Club was held on Thursday, November 1st at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 14 members present and two visitors, Eddie and Jolene Ballard.
The meeting was called to order by our president, Jim Watson. Chuck Hamilton read the minutes of the October meeting and gave the treasurer's report in the absence of JoAnn Hamilton. The club treasury currently stands at $955.42. The balance in the Flower Fund remains at $73.00.
Jim Watson asked Spencer Hogan to give a report on his recent tip to Great Britain. Spencer spoke about attending the annual Goodwood Revival which features serious vintage sportscar races attended by the world top drivers. He also attended the Brooklands Mini Meet where close to 150 Minis competed.
Al Bauerle discussed the recent Fall Colors drive which was well attended by 17 cars. The day turned out to be a bit on the cloudy side but fortunately there was no rain. The Fall foliage was at it's peak. The 85 mile drive finished up at the Pig and Chick restaurant in Rogersville where we all enjoyed a pleasant lunch and fellowship. A special thank you to Peter Davis and the Appalachain British Car Society for paying the bill !
Jim passed around the recent issue of The MGB Driver which features an artical about Herren Floyd's 1963 MGB that he purchased new and has now logged over 200 thousand miles.
Jim reminded the membership of the Chattanooga Choo Choo Car Show that is to be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The club drive to Pine Mountain State Park in Pine Mountain Kentucky is scheduled for Sunday November 11th.
Election of officers for the next two years was held as called for in the club by-laws. Nominees were Mark Bourne as president, Jim Stepp as vice-president and Mike Thomas as secretary-treasurer. There were no other nominations put forward and this slate of officers was elected accordingly.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Lynnita Stepp. MG's were driven to the meeting by Mike and Joyce Thomas, Donna Duty, Eddie and Jolene Ballard, Jim and Lynnita Stepp.
MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver's Club was held on Thursday, October 4th at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 15 members present.
The meeting was called to order by our vice-president, Mark Bourne as our president, Jim Watson, was a bit late in arriving at the meeting. The club secretary-treasurer read the minutes of the September meeting. The club treasury stands unchanged at $946.42. The balance in the Flower Fund remains $73.00.
Mark Bourne called for new business and a discussion of the forthcoming drive to Pine Mountain followed. Several of those present suggested dates for this drive. Jim Watson pointed out that November 3rd and 4th were long fixed dates for the Chattanooga Car Show. Chuck Hamilton said that Saturday October 20th was out as that date was reserved for the very popular annual Fall Colors Drive led by Al and Liz Bauerle. After further discussion, it was agreed by those present that we would try to host the Pine Mountain drive on Sunday, October 28th.
Under old business, Jim was asked how it was that the Watson "Pumpkin Midget" won best of show at the recent Rugby Car Show. Jim attributed the win to a ghost that inhabited one of the guest houses and a mysterious disappearance of beer from the fridge. Jim asked if anyone present had attended the Big Stone Gap Celtic Festival. None present attended.
Mark Bourne gave an interesting account of his and Karyn's recent trip to Italy along with the driving conditions that they encounter there.
It was suggested that Spencer hold his report on his visit to Great Britain and Goodwood for the November meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Time and place for Fall Colors Drive is Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at the Burger King on 11W in Rogersville. The 50/50 drawing was won by JoAnn Hamilton. George Greene, Wayne Stroud, Jim Stepp, Bob Maybe, Mark Bourne and Mike Thomas drove their MG's to the meeting.
MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of tthe East Tenessee MG Driver's Club was held on
Thursday, September 6th at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 18 members present with one visitor.
The meeting was called to order by our secretary-treasurer since our president arrived late at the meeting. The club secretary then proceeded to read the minutes of the April meeting. The club treasury stands at $946.42 and includes payment of most of the expenses of the Douglas Dam drive and picnic. The balance in the Flower Fund remains $73.00.
The program was urned over to our president, Jim Watson and a discussion of the Douglas Dam drive and picnic followed. Melinda Watson announced that TVA would no longer accept reservations for the pcnic shelters, instead going with a first come/first served basis.
Jim Watson gave an extensive report on the Rugby Car Show where the Watson Midget won Best of Show award.
Herren Floyd discussed Paul Kern's visit to the Appalachain British Car Club meeting the previous evening. Paul is one of our founding members and currently resides in Australia.
Al Bauerle brought up the upcoming Big Stone Gap Celtic Festival to be held on Saturday, September 22nd. Jim pointed out that the Smoky Mountain Jaguar Club had scheduled a concours and all-british car show in Greeneville on that same date. Al Bauerle and George Green offered to lead a club drive to Big Stone Gap for any club members wishing to participate in the Big Stone Gap event. Jim stated that he would pass the word to Blount club members.
Other scheduled events include a drive to Pine Mountain State Park on Sunday, October 7th; Nashville British Car Show, October 13th and 14th; the annual Fall Colors Drive, October 20th; and the Chattanooga British Car Show November 2nd through the 4th. Dates subject to confirmation.
There being no further business, the meetingwas adjourned. The 50/50 drawing was won by our visitor,June Noe. Dottie Duty, George Greene, Wayne Stroud, Bob and Judie Maybe all drove their MG's to the meeting.
MINUTES OF THE AUGUST, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennesse MG Drivers Club was held on Thursday, August 2nd at O'Charleys restaurant in Morristown. There were 19 members attending the meeting.
The meeting was called to order by our president Jim Watson who then read the minutes of the July meeting along with the treasurers report.
Jim then called for old business and a report on the July drive to Hot Springs was given byAl Baurely who stated that 14 cars participated in the drive and picnic. There was an unplanned detour due to the bridge over the French Broad being closed, fortunately, Wayne Stroud knew a way around the bridge so little time was lost.
Jim gave a short report on his attendance to the Gilmore Car Show held in Michigan.
Under new business, the picnic at Douglas Dam was discussed and it was decided that we would have the picnic on Saturday, August 18th. Melinda Watson was asked to try to reserve the pavilion for the club's use. Members should bring their own picnic lunch plus a dessert for sharing.
Herren Floyd Moved that the club pay for club name badges out of club dues. A brief discussion followed with the motion receiving a second. All present voted in favor with none. dissenting
Upcoming car show events were announced including Rugby on 8/31. Car and motorcycle show in Baileyton on 9/9. All British Car Show at Joe Wheeler State Park in Alabama on 9/9 and the Jaguar Concours and British car show in Greeneville on 9/21 and 9/22.
With no further business for discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
George Greene won the 50/50 drawing. Wayne Stroud and Carl Floyd drove MG's to the meeting. New member Jim Henry drove a very nice Alfa Romeo Guilia.
MINUTES OF THE JULY, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver's Club was held on Thursday, July 5th at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 14 members present and one visitor, Jim Henry, who joined the club at the meeting.
The meeting was called to order by our president, Jim Watson. The club secretary-treasurer then read the minutes of the May meeting. The club treasury now stands at $943.58 and the flower fund is $73.00.
Jim called for old business. There was a discussion of the "Springtime In The Smokies" car show held in Townsend as well as MG 2012 which was held in Dillard, Georgia.
Under new business, Jim reminded members of the upcoming drive to Hot Springs, NC on Saturday, July 14th. Jim then suggested that members give some thought as to what the club might want to do with the money in the club treasury. A discussion followed about attendance at local cruise-ins.
No MG's were driven to the meeting, probably due in large part to the strong winds and rain that was occuring in the area. Liz Bauerle was the winner of the 50-50 drawing.

MINUTES OF THE MAY, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver's Club was held on Thursday, May 3rd at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 15 members present.
The meeting was called to order by our vice president, Mark Bourne in the absence of president Jim Watson. The club treasurer read the minutes of the April meeting. The total in the club treasury was reported as $933.58 after deduction of $116.79 in expenses incurred for the club picnic at Cherokee Park.
Mark called for old business, but none was opened for discussion.
Mark then called for new business. Carl Floyd reminded the members that this coming weekend was "Springtime In The Smokies" and that the V-8 club's special "Roadmaster " project would be on display. George Greene suggested that those wishing to caravan to Townsend mett up at the Alpha McDonald's at 9:30 on Saturday.
Jim Stepp announced that the annual Memorial Day car show at Otis Eldridge's in Rogersville will be held anagin this year after missing last year. This is a car show not to be missed!
A discussion followed about attendance at MG2012 to be held in Dillard, Georgia on June 6th through 12th. Since a number of members present indicated that they had reservations for that event and as it conflicts with our June meeting date, a motion was made and seconded that our June meeting be cancelled. All present were in agreement. Herren Floyd suggested that one of the club officerstake responsibility to advise O'Charley's of the cancellation as well as posting an e-mail notice to the membership.
Three MG's were driven to the meeting by Wayne Stroud, George and Teresa Greene and Bob and Judy Maybe.

MINUTES OF THE APRIL, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver's Club was held on Thursday, April 5th at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 18 members present.
The meeting was called to order by our president, Jim Watson. The club secretary-treasurer read the minutes of the March meeting. The total in the club treasury was reported to be $1037.57. The flower fund now stand at $73.00.
Under old business, Jim gave a report on the April Fool's bash. Forty-nine British cars attended including a Morgan Aero that drove in from Huntsville, Alabama. The 2013 Bash will be hosted jointly by the ETMGDC and the Appalachain British Car Society.
Jim opened new buiness with a reminder to members that the club will be hosting a picnic for members and guests at Cherokee Park in Morristown on Sunday, April 22nd. Members were reminded that the annual Townsend all-British car show is slated for May 4-5-6. Ladies are invited to participate in "High Tea".
Karen Bourne was the winner of the 50-50 drawing. The only MG driven to the meeting was driven by Wayne Stroud.

MINUTES OF THE MARCH, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The reguler monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver's Club was held on Thursday, March 1st at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 16 members present.
The meeting was called to order by our president, Jim Watson. The club secretary-treasurer read the minutes of the February meeting. The total in the club treasury was reported to be $933.57. The flower fund stands at $73.00.
Under old business, Al Bauerle gave a report on the February drive through scenic parts of Hawkins County. The drive was well attended with 16 cars present with an enjoyable meal and get together at thr PIG nad Chick afterward.
Jim Watson opened new business with a discussion about attendance at the forthcoming April Fool's Bash. He then moved on to a proposed picnic at Metcalf Bottoms on March 17th. Jim reminded the clubthat we should mark our calendars for the annual "Springtime In The Smokies" car show to be held in Townsend on May 11,12 and 13th.
Herren Floyd raised a question concerning the make-up of the club's board of directors. Jon Witt thought that the board comprised the present sitting officers plus all previous presidents. Those officers present recalled that the make-up of the board was actually the present sitting officers plus the immediate past serving club president.
Regarding last month's question about continuing membership, Jim suggested that we let the status of non- active members remain as it is for the time being. He stated that he sees no harm in leaving those members on the e-mail list.
The 50-50 drawing was won by Mike Thomas. The only MG driven to the meeting was driven by Wayne Stroud.

MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver's Club was held on Thursday, February 2nd at O'Charley's restaurant in Morristown. There were 18 members present.
The meeting was called to order by our president, Jim Watson. The secretary-treasurer read the minutes of the January meeting. The club treasury now stands at $1,021.00.
There is $73.00 in the Flower Fund.
Under the category of old business, there was a discussion regarding movement of the club's checking account to a new location. George Greene stated that he has closed the old checking account and handed over the funds to the club treasurer. JoAnn will seek to establish a new checking account with a bank or credit union that does not charge to maintain the account.
Jim gave a report on the January drive to Greenville and the Old Town Garage Car Museum. The drive was very well attended by members of three area clubs. The luncheon that followed at the General Morgan hotel was enjoyed by all. Herren Floyd brought up the question raised at last month's meeting about revising the club's list of members to exclude those members who are not current with their dues and who have not been active members. Jim Watson stated that he would personally contact each of the inactive members to determine whether or not they wished to continue their membership in the club.
Under new business, Al Bauerle announanced that there would be a drive on Saturday, February 11th, touring the general area around Rogersville, ending at the Pig and Chick restaurant. The drive will start at 10:00 a.m. at the Burger King in Rogersville. Jim announced that the location of the April Fools Bash has been moved to Tamsi. September 1st is scheduled for the 2nd Annual Rugby All British Car Show. Jim asked for volunteers to captain forthcoming club drives.
Liz Bauerle won the 50-50 drawing. There was one MG driven to the meeting. It was driven by George Greene. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
MINUTES OF THE JANUARY, 2012 MONTHLY MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the East Tennessee MG Driver’s Club was held on Thursday, January 5th at O’Charleys restaurant in Morristown. There were 21 members present and one visitor.
The meeting was called to order by our president, Jim Watson. The secretary-treasurer read the minutes of the December meeting. The club treasury now stands at $940.44 and the Flower Fund at 59.00.
Under the category of old business, Jim advised the membership that the accommodations for MG2012 were going fast and that the central accommodation for the event, the Dillard House, was completely booked. Members who are planning to attend this event were advised not to delay arranging reservations.
Under new business, Teresa Greene passed out the drive committee’s proposed schedule. In reviewing the schedule for 2012, there was discussion about the problems in reserving space at Cherokee Park for that proposed event. Susanne Neidert offered her lakeside home as an alternate for the proposed August event, the picnic at Douglas Dam. Jim Watson suggested that the club consider a January drive to Greeneville to visit the old City Garage and Car Museum. Jim will advise the membership of the time and date for the drive. Due to January weather, members may want to drive more suitable cars.
There was a lively discussion about amending the club by-laws to allow the club to drop members who had failed to pay the past year’s dues and had not attended any of the club meetings or events within the past year. Susanne Neidert offered to motions in favor of reducing those members from the club roster. The discussion centered on the right way to inform members and it was thought best to table the motion until the next meeting to allow more time for consideration.
George Greene advised the club that the bank holding our checking account had notified him that they were now charging a monthly fee on the account. This after we had just ordered new checks at a cost to the club of $28.00. The members present suggested that we look for another bank or credit union and move the account to one that does not charge the fee.
Susanne Neidert won the 50/50.
