2007 Meetings

Meeting began at 7:40 p.m.

President Jon Whitt announced 5 new members since April 2007 meeting.

The NAMGBR insurance has been reinstated, which requires 8 club members.

Jon reminded members about the Oct. 20 Eurofest at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, S.C., which will have the Austin-Healey as the tribute car. Jon also reminded members to sign up for the May 11-13 Blount British Car Show.

A drive to Grove Park Inn is tentatively scheduled for the first or second week in June. Jon would like to have a drive to see Glacier Girl in June or July.

Seth Glassman suggested doing local, smaller trips, such as the Smokies Stadium, Panther Creek State Park and Cherokee Park.

Seth hopes to have the club's Web site up and running by the June meeting, but he needs pictures and other contributions from club members to make it a success.

Seth announced he has the material to make nametags for new club members at a cost of $7.95 each.
Jon said he has been working with a company in Missouri on getting caps with the club name and logo on them. Caps will be approximately $10 each with an order of 24. A sample cap should be ready by the June meeting.

Vice-president Mark Whitt showed his T-shirt depicting his 1954 MGTF. The shirt was made by Seth, and members can purchase similar shirts with their car on them for $19.95, plus $5 for a shirt with a front logo and picture on the back.

Jon gave two ideas for members before the next meeting: 1) Actively look for new members; and 2) Ideas for drives.

Mark suggested a drive to Maryville for a drive-in movie.

Jim Watson suggested impromptu drives, like the Blount British Car Club takes.

Jon opened the floor for suggestions or complaints.

Jon reiterated that club officers would serve for 2 years.

Seth mentioned the "British Marque" magazine, which is $12 per club member per year. The magazine features a ½-page on each club participating, and ETMGDC members need to make sure they mention our club when they sign up for a subscription to the magazine.

Seth will work on a calling card to leave on non-club members' MG that members may encounter. Herren Floyd will send Seth a copy of a card from another club as a guide.

The June meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Smoky's Steak & BBQ in Morristown.
